Pilates mat work is the best way to organize your core strength, putting a premium on posture, stability, and movement quality-- versus deep stretching or crushing random moves.
This is a Level 2 Pilates mat workout, featuring the abs, obliques and core stabilizers! New research on the 'core muscles' shows they are our protectors, not prime movers. In real life they are mostly used to STABILIZE the spine and pelvis, and LIMIT body movement. They are not actually used to move us around in space-- this is done from the hips. Thus our core training should follow these principles as well.
The control of Pilates is better than hardcore old-school moves like situps or mountain climbers-- which force you to destabilize your spine. Instead, choose your 'neutral' or 'imprinted' spine position, then do the move!
