THIRD WORLD is an acclaimed 30-minute solo dance creation with the narrative of Di, a first generation Canadian woman of Filipino descent and her journey through dance. While entering various worlds, Di uses a malong, a tribal multi-purpose garment indigenous to the muslims of the southern Philippines, in various ways while exploring street dance forms such as Voguing, Waacking, House Dance and Bgirling while integrating Filipino folk dance suites like Subli, Binasuan, Yakan, Pangalay and Kappa Malong Malong.
This clip is an excerpt from her last of three completely sold-out shows at SummerWorks Performance Festival where it was voted Outstanding Performance and Outstanding Design by NOW Magazine while earning a NNNN review.
